Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)—Emergency Mental Health Support for Women

At Alter Women’s Trauma OC, we understand that life can be overwhelming at times. Anyone can face moments when things feel out of control. During these difficult moments, having the right support can make the biggest difference. That’s why we created a safe place at our centre, where women can feel understood and supported when they need it the most.

Instead of staying in a hospital, our home-like facility gives women a warm and comfortable space to heal. Here, we offer trauma-informed care, licensed professionals available round the clock to support with medication, and caring staff always available to help. Everything is designed specifically for women to support them while making them feel safe.

What is Our Crisis Stabilization Program

Healing happens when you feel safe. You deserve to feel cared for. At our crisis program, we do more than just treat symptoms; we support every part of your well-being. You’ll have a cozy place to stay, caring nurses by your side day and night, help with your medications, and a plan made just for you. In today’s stressful and demanding society, we understand women are going through a lot and need specialized care to heal. Our Unique Approach to Crisis Stabilization

Our team understands what women go through and gives care that is both trauma-informed and focused on women’s unique needs. We act quickly and with compassion, creating a plan that fits each woman and offering strong support every step of the way. Our goal is not just to help with the crisis right now, but to help you build a strong foundation for lasting healing, with support that continues even after your time with us.

We make sure our space feels safe and respectful, so women feel heard and valued while they heal. We also include family and loved ones in the process, keeping them updated and helping them understand what you’re going through. We teach families about trauma and recovery, so everyone can support you better. This is a big part of how we help women heal and feel stronger.

Mental Health Support for Women

Structured Therapeutic Support

Beyond 24/7 psychiatric nursing care, help with medications, and one-on-one therapy, women in our program can join many activities that support healing from trauma.

You might try art therapy, gentle yoga, breathwork, mindfulness, or body-based healing sessions. Wellness experts also visit often to help you feel better, inside and out.

Individualized Recovery Plans

You’ll get a treatment plan that’s made just for you. We’ll work with you to find out what you need most. Together, we’ll look at your triggers, your mental health, and any past trauma you’ve been through. The plan is not set in stone. Your team will adjust the plan as you grow.

Healing, Supervised Living

You’ll have your own space in a setting that feels like home. It’s comfortable and built for rest. You’ll eat meals with other women, join in on activities, and find strength in being with others who understand what you’re going through. Our team is always available to help, guide you, and step in promptly if you need extra support.

FAQS

Women typically remain in our crisis stabilization environment for 7-21 days. After you start feeling better, you can continue healing in our residential program or join our day treatment services to keep making progress.

We help women facing all kinds of mental health crises. That includes severe depression with thoughts of suicide, intense trauma reactions like flashbacks or feeling disconnected, psychotic episodes, major anxiety or panic attacks, and self-harm.

We’re also here if you’re having trouble with your medication, or if there’s any other emergency that needs quick action to keep you safe and start your recovery.

Family and friends are welcome to be involved in your treatment, as long as it’s helpful for you. You can share updates with the people you choose and work together on your progress. Visits depend on what you need and what’s best for your recovery. Our team will talk with your family and include them in your plans for when you leave.

When you’re ready to leave the Crisis Stabilization Unit, we’ll make sure you have a solid aftercare plan for what comes next. That might mean moving to residential care, joining an outpatient program, or connecting with support in your community. We’ll set up your follow-up appointments, help you keep your medications on track, and make sure you feel ready for the next step in your recovery.
