What mental health conditions do you treat at the women’s facility?

We treat anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, addiction, and other mental health struggles. Many women are dealing with more than one of these at the same time. If you recognize yourself in more than one of these, you’re not alone, and you’re absolutely not “too much.”

When pain goes untreated for a long time, it can shape our lives in ways we never wanted. Getting help isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong” with you. It’s about finally understanding what’s underneath the struggle, so you can stop blaming yourself for every tough moment and start finding genuine relief.

It Doesn’t Always Look Like a Crisis — But It Still Counts

Mental health problems do not always look like a dramatic movie scene. Sometimes, it’s feeling overwhelmed by the smallest decisions, like what to make for dinner. Sometimes, it’s losing your patience with your kids or partner over little things. Sometimes, it’s scrolling on your phone for hours just to avoid thinking about how you really feel, because the moment things go quiet, something uncomfortable rushes in.

But all of that still matters, and it still counts. Those experiences are every bit as real and deserving of care as a full-blown crisis. You don’t have to just “push through it” or just take a deep breath and continue your day.

A lot of women deal with more than one challenge at a time. For example, anxiety and addiction can happen together. Trauma and depression can show up at the same time, too. It’s almost never just one thing. That’s why it’s so important to find help that looks at your whole experience, not just one part of it.

At Alter Women’s Trauma OC, we look at the whole picture, because that’s the only way healing can truly last.

Anxiety — When Your Brain Won’t Turn the Volume Down

Anxiety treatment is one of the most common reasons women come to us, and it’s also one of the most misunderstood. People assume anxiety means being nervous before a big presentation. But for a lot of women, their anxiety is more like a background noise that never really goes away. It can be waking up already feeling tense. It’s overthinking a conversation you had days ago. It’s saying yes even when you want to say no, because saying no somehow feels scary or risky.

Anxiety is exhausting in a way that’s hard to explain to someone who hasn’t felt it. Here, our team understands that, and we treat it seriously, not as something to just “manage” with breathing exercises.

Depression — Not Sadness, Something Heavier

Most of us picture Depression the same way: someone lying in bed, unable to move. But sometimes, depression looks like a woman who shows up to work, school, and family dinners, but doesn’t feel anything at all. It’s that sense of numbness, just going through the days, and wondering why things that used to make you happy don’t anymore.

Depression can be hard to spot in women because it often gets dismissed as just stress, hormones, or being tired. But it’s not any of those things. Depression is real, it’s treatable, and you don’t have to live with it forever.

Trauma & PTSD — The Stuff That Stayed

Some experiences that happen to us don’t just fade away; they stick around. Trauma and PTSD can show up in women in ways you might not expect. It might look like always being on guard in relationships, having a hard time feeling safe in your own body, or a nervous system that’s been on high alert for so long that it doesn’t know how to come down.

At Alter Women’s Trauma OC, trauma-informed care is at the heart of everything we do. That means everyone here, from your therapist to the way our space feels, is focused on understanding how trauma impacts you and responding with care. No one will ever rush you or push you before you’re ready. Instead, we’ll walk alongside you, step by step, until things start to feel a lot better.

Bipolar Disorder — When the Highs and Lows Run the Show

Bipolar disorder in women is often missed or misunderstood for a long time. Life with bipolar disorder can feel unpredictable. You might have times when you feel full of energy, and not much later, it feels like you have none. These changes aren’t your fault, and they can leave you feeling lost or questioning yourself. During times like these, you deserve care that helps make sense of what you’re experiencing, without blaming or shaming you.

We take the time to really figure out what’s going on. Then we make a treatment plan that’s made just for you, not just a standard plan for everyone. We don’t guess, and we don’t waste your time.

Drug & Alcohol Addiction — When Coping Becomes the Problem

A lot of the time, addiction starts as a way of coping with your problems. Something probably helped you calm your anxiety, get some sleep, or just feel numb for a while. Over time, though, it can turn into something you feel you need, not just something you choose. That’s not a character flaw; it’s simply how addiction works.

For women, especially, addiction is almost never just about the substance. It’s usually connected to past pain, difficult relationships, or surviving really tough experiences. Treating it properly means treating all of that, not just treating the addiction alone.

Beyond These — Borderline Personality Disorder, Schizophrenia, and More

These aren’t the only conditions we treat. Alter Women’s Trauma OC also helps women with borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia, autism, and more. No matter what you’re dealing with, you won’t be treated in isolation or given a one-size-fits-all plan. Every woman gets care that’s tailored to her whole experience.

What Treatment Actually Looks Like Here

It’s important to know what conditions are treated, but it’s just as important to understand how care actually works.

Alter Women’s Trauma OC treatment is tailored to each woman, using approaches that are proven to help. That includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), EMDR & Brainspotting for trauma processing, Mindfulness & Relaxation, and Attachment-Based Therapy. Your treatment plan can change and grow as you do. If something isn’t helping, it gets adjusted. The focus is always on what works best for you.

For women who need more support, the Residential Mental Health Treatment (RTC) program offers full-time, live-in care with round-the-clock support, daily therapy, psychiatric care, and a peaceful, private space away from daily stress. If you’re in an immediate crisis, the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is there to help you get stable and find a way forward.

Because this is a women-only space, you don’t have to explain what it’s like to be a woman dealing with mental health struggles. The team already understands, and you’ll be given care that truly fits your life.

You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out to Reach Out

It’s okay if you don’t have all the answers. If you just feel like something is off and that you’ve been carrying something too heavy for too long, and you’re tired of doing it alone, that’s enough reason to contact us.

Alter Women’s Trauma OC accepts most major insurance and can help you understand your options from the very first conversation. Healing isn’t always easy, but you don’t have to do it alone. We will be with you every step of the way.
